iPod Update Problems
2004-04-30 17:35:41

As MacFixIt reports many users have had problems with their iPod after installing the recent iPod 2004-04-28 updater. Some users report a "dead" iPod that is apparently completely unresponsive after the update has completed, while others indicate that the update fails mid-way through the update process, leaving the user holding a brain-dead unit.

More technically savvy users have tried to use Apple's Disk Utility to reformat the iPod and "start from scratch"—such efforts have been of no avail. We, here at iPod Hacks, have two iPods that are not recognized by the installer at all, preventing any update from taking place.

The following Apple KnowledgeBase articles may be of help:It is unclear exactly why this update is plagued with such troubles. Could they be iSight related? We will keep our readers in the loop in the event of further comment from Apple or an updated updater application.
