There have been a number of users in our forums asking about ways to modifiy the iPod's rear casing such that it is not so mirror-like. One of our first stories, posted back in November 2001, gave the account of a user who beadblasted his iPod's rear casing, giving it a nice, even texture. For those without easy access to a beadblasting service, we have run across a page put up by a user who performed a more "do-it-yourself" "brushed steel" iPod modification. In this latter article, only a steel wool-like plumber's tarnish pad and some water is needed. Of course, as with any modification requiring you to open your iPod, proceed with caution and at your own risk!
