How Not To Fix An iPod Shuffle

Sometimes taking matters in your own hands can lead to disaster. Such was the case with a user who tried to revive his dead, out-of-warranty iPod shuffle.
He started by trying to ease the bottom of the shuffle's case off, but got a bit carried away when he proceeded to initiate a series of jabbing motions to get the job done. It just went down hill from there."...he must have hit a small capacitor and I found him running around the room swearing and screaming like a school girl wondering what to do. The iPod basically exploded in his face and court [sic] fire, sparks flying and thick black smoke, and in the end he placed it on an electric fan, which in turn started to turn black from the smoke and heat coming out of the tiny little ipod…" Oy.
